To License your Dog
If you want to license your dog, you will need the following:
- Proof of rabies vaccination
- Certification from a licensed veterinarian if the dog is spayed/neutered.
- If dog has a tattoo or microchip information may also be added
Licensing may be done at the Boston Town Hall, in the Town Clerk’s office.
Under New York State Law, the owner of any dog reaching the age of 4 months shall immediately make application for a dog license.
- Effective May 16, 2024, annual fees for licensing a dog are:
- Spayed /Neutered – 1 year $10 | 2 year $20 | 3 year $30
- Unspayed/Unneutered – 1 year $18 | 2 year $36 | 3 year $54
- Spayed/Neutered (Senior 65+) – $2.00 Discount
- Unspayed/Neutered (Senior 65+) – $2.00 Discount
- Late Renewal Fee – $5 per month (30 Day grace period)
If Dog Control Officer finds any resident to have an unlicensed dog – $10
- You may license your dog for up to 3 years.
